Salt

Dear Foodies,

After a short and unannounced hiatus, I have returned!

Dramatic, wasn't it?

I was made aware this morning via the Washington Post that the FDA is planning to launch a campaign to reduce salt in packaged foods. Now I can agree with the FDA for once that there is to much salt in the typical American diet.

BUT. It is not the place of the FDA to regulate such a thing.

What do YOU think?

  1. I agree with you!! It's not their place ....

and I love that picture. I know this is going to sound silly, but wouldn't it be fun if we could ride that machine up to the top, and it could spit us out into a big pool or lake or something? :D

  2. I agree with you that it is not the FDA's place, but I guess they can do that when many of the food processing companies are subsidized by the government besides having government business licenses. People get what they ask for! If the American people had not already allowed government to usurp the power to act as 'god' then they wouldn't be dealing with things like this.

That would be fun to ride that machine and be spit out into a pool or lake! :)

BTW, where do you find all your cool pics, Benjamin?

  3. I wish the gov't would stay out of most things, food & healthcare both. However, that said, much of the mess we have is because gov't got involved where it should not have, subsidies on corn & soy, paying farmers NOT to farm, etc. They have it all such a mess that it will be difficult to untangle.

  4. Your right, the people should take responsibility for themselves not big brother or the FDA!

  5. Absolutely. I know we probably eat to much salt, but that's irrelevant. Come on, the Fed was just supposed to preside over the union of states-and maybe enforce civil justice on the national level. What next, packaged rations from Uncle Sam?
